Can USC Live up to the Hype?

Fresh out of probation, many eyes will be on the USC Trojans this year. They’ve received a ton of hype in the preseason and it continues throughout the summer. But will the Trojans actually live up to the hype once the rubber meets the road? That remains to be seen, but they will have several hurdles to overcome.

With reduced scholarships as part of USC’s probation, you have to wonder how depth will factor in as USC moves throughout the Pac 12 schedule. There’s always potential for injuries, and depth is a critical factor in college football late in the season. USC’s depth will definitely be tested, and we’ll see how creative Lane Kiffin can get in preparing his guys to endure a tough season.

The other major issue facing the Trojan football program is how will Matt Barkley respond under the Heisman microscope? Will he start to think about his pro career, or will he show poise and lead his football team to a title? As college football fans begin their countdown to the season, this is one of the many questions we’ll be looking forward to seeing answered, come Fall.
