Oklahoma vs. Florida State Part III? It’s certainly a possibility, albiet a tiny one. FSU called Oklahoma to inquire about the rematch in a new home and home series to fill the void left by West Virginia on their schedule. In this case, the Sooners would travel to FSU.
Oklahoma can fill that void very easily and you can bet your ass the fans would support it. Truth of the matter is, they actually do need a road game since their non-conference road game at TCU next season has become a conference road game. That game of course replaces the Oklahoma-Texas A&M series.
If you ask me, substituting FSU for Texas A&M for an away game is pretty much a wash, considering they’ve been about even over the last several seasons, so its no sweat off Bob Stoops’ back, or is it? The chances are it won’t happen and its because Bob’s brother, Mark is the defensive coordinator at FSU and has provided some difficulty for the Sooners over the last couple of games. OU pummeled FSU two seasons ago and this past year’s contest remained close all the way through with OU making some big plays down the stretch to squeeze out a victory by 10 points.
Our take? Not going to happen under Bob’s watch, so long as his brother is coordinating the defense for the Noles, but that doesn’t mean Bob won’t look for another big time match up to fill that slot. The question just remains- who?
