Household Name Alert: Lamarcus Joyner

I’m getting ready to dive out on a limb; albeit, a logical one. The reason being is that it’s somewhat rare for the average college football fan to name safeties on a team other than their own; but it’s possible (see: Eric Berry, Tyrann Mathieu). But there’s a safety floating around out there who’s in the mold of both Berry and Mathieu from a playmaking standpoint, and he’s the anchor of a defense that gets enough national coverage to make this prediction possible. He’s none other than junior safety Lamarcus Joyner of Florida State.

Being an FSU alum, the sources out of Tallahassee say that Joyner is ready to explode this season, and that he’s easily the best defensive back the Noles have had since Antonio Cromartie. While compact in structure, Joyner is brilliant against both the run and pass, and is very dangerous in the kick return game.

In the past couple of weeks, a plethora of college football’s talking heads have turned on the FSU hype machine, but it’s in large part due to Joyner and the FSU defense. He’ll have his work cut out for him to prove me right, but expect to see #20 for the Seminoles knocking off heads on Saturday’s this season. Can Lamarcus Joyner of FSU be a household name by season’s end? Absolutely!

As a highly involved sports fan, I use my legal background to make well informed commentary about the teams you love. Good luck arguing with me, unless it's about Florida State, then my passion ignites and logic disappears.
