Since we have shown you several of the Charles Sollars design collection of unsolicited Nike Pro Combat uniforms and helmets from the major schools, it’s time to dive into the smaller conferences. One of the most underrated fan bases in the country is the rowdy bunch who love East Carolina. They have a devout and strong group of fans who support their Pirates more than anything in the world. The fact that they have been left out of the conference expansion discussion is a crime, but that’s a totally different conversation. Let’s take a look at the ECU concept helmets.

You are absolutely right! It is a crime we have been left out of the conference expansion! But as far as the helmets go…Awesome! Especially the black helmet. Great job! Maybe our athletics dept. will run with the Pro Combat unis once this season.
The ECU logo is quite possibly the most bad ass logo in the world of college atheletics. It’s a shame none of those designs have happened yet especially with all of the National games ECU has each year. There is A LOT of potential with the Pro Combat series and ECU. Hopefully one of these football conferences takes the pride of North Carolina and helps ECU move into its rightful place in college football.
Love it, would take any of them but agree that the 3rd one is the best!
I’m very happy ECU is affiliated with Nike. I look at what Adidas and Under Armour have come out with and it’s hideous. These are great!
Amazing helmets. I don’t get why no conference has picked up East Carolina. Regardless, that helmet with the flag is just awesome.
#3 is BAD ASS..
I like both the middle and the far right with the skull and crossbones, and especially in black. I know many fellow Pirates that would love for the team to sport a black uni and helmet, maybe someday that will happen!

LOVE #2 & #3. I think the black shows off the disign & colors better, but love either of them! PLEASE post what the uniforms would look like, too! ECU OFFICIALS….MAKE IT HAPPEN!

I really find #2 the most appealing, personally. #1 is pretty tight, too. Would love to see this at the very least as a special alternative helmet at some point.
#3 but should use the mid-field logo on the black helmet.
Great design with all three helmets, number three takes the cake without a doubt, would be amazing if we actually used this.

Thanks for the props regarding our program!! You have to have a program worth marketing when all the talk is about “tv market” and our history proves that we have “IT”. I love all the helmets but 2 & 3 aarrrrr NASTY-GO PIRATES!!

This is cruel and unusual punishment; in the Pirate Nation, the sight of a football helmet this early in the year is more of a tease than we can typically handle. Although ECU baseball is also an experience any sports fan should be so fortunate to witness, we’re already thinking football now. I’m sure our players would be proud to wear any of those designs. I would have a hard time choosing. As for the conference saga(s)… I won’t even begin to ruffle my feathers on that subject.
#2 is my favorite. we are ready for some football soon with the spring game coming up.
Looks like the ECU family like #2 the best. Write your congressman and let he/she know you want that. Or go call Ruffin and put in a request. Knowing Ruffin, he’d probably take the call and make that move.

Wow! That’s cool! I like the skull on black except it may make the helmet hot on sunny days. Therefore, I would vote for the skull on purple.
By the way, I’ve lived in 4 areas of North Carolina from the mountains of Ashville to the coast, including near Charlotte and 17 years in Raleigh. These idiots in the conferences don’t get it that East Carolina fans are ALL OVER the state!
From Louisville working overtime to keep us out of C-USA to the Big East having their heads up their *****, I’m beginning to wonder if there is some kind of conspiracy going on here. When we do get to a BCS conference, East Carolina will take off and everyone in NC knows it!
I like the one in the center. The purple helmets look way better in the sun than black does, especially during play – it makes it simple to see who’s who. ARRRRGGGGHHHHH.

SICK!!!! I say take the 2nd and 3rd for a package deal. I could see #3 for a Thursday night game in Dowdy Ficklen. The place would go NUTS with some blacked out unis and that black jolly roger helmet!

I like all three helment designs, but the first one is my favorite. Regardless I’d love to see ECU use any of the three. I’d also like to see ECU use a black uniform like the Baseball Pirates do as part of the uniform combinations. Go Pirates!
We Have to get one of the helmets on the right. We would have the best uniform in the Big East. I wonder who I could call. I’m a donor so I hope they hear me out. I’ve been preaching for a breakout helmet design since the undergrad days
