Many reading this headline are probably wondering whether or not it’s possible to trademark an actual body part.
No, it’s still not possible (probably), but former Kentucky guard and future New Orleans Hornet Anthony Davis is doing the next best thing. Davis tells CNBC’s Darren Rovell that he’s trademarked a few phrases like “Fear the Brow” and “Raise the Brow.” It seems “The People’s Eyebrow” has already been taken.
Davis has the most famous eyebrows in all of sports right now and he knows it. On his decision to trademark, he told Rovell,
“I don’t want anyone to try to grow a unibrow because of me and then try to make money off of it. Me and my family decided to trademark it because it’s very unique.”
He hasn’t even entered the NBA yet and Anthony Davis is already looking out for his best interests. That being said, his eyebrow is not unique. Anthony Davis invented the monobrow like Drew Brees invented the birthmark.
Congrats Anthony, you’ve managed to do the impossible and make the one eyebrow look cool. Let the people who cheer and support you make their shirts and have their fun, too. You used none of your many talents to create this “gift” to the world. Davis should just stick to his original plan and try to make money just playing basketball rather than going this trademark route.
