Former Coach Bill Parcells Says Even Stanford’s Luck isn’t a Sure Thing

Andrew Luck is seen as a can’t miss quarterback in the NFL.  Just don’t tell that to Bill Parcells.

In an interview with ESPN 760 in Florida, Monday, Parcells discussed his thoughts on Luck and whether he’s the best prospect in this year’s draft.  Parcells said,

“Anyone who says that this guy is the hands down, Heisman Trophy winner or the first pick in the draft right now, I don’t think they know what they are talking about.  There’s not been enough work done yet.”

That’s a bold statement by Parcells, as Luck has been almost universally praised by scouts as the best quarterback prospect since Peyton Manning in 1998.

It’s a good for Dolphins fans that Parcells isn’t still running the show in Miami.  Granted, their recent winning streak takes them essentially out of the running for Luck, but it would be hard to imagine Parcell’s protégé, GM Jeff Ireland, passing on Luck should they somehow land the number one pick.

For that matter it’s hard to imagine anyone having the courage to pass on the guy that some scouts are already calling a lock for the Hall of Fame.
