Beer Sales Surge in West Virginia for LSU Game

So, the numbers are out for beer sales at Mountaineer Field from this past Saturday’s game vs. LSU. The final tally is shocking:

36,042 units of beer sold
$255,396 gross in beer sales
$120,469.81 net in beer sales
7,138 souvenir sodas sold
8,510 bottles of water sold
2,590 cups of frozen lemonade sold
52 designated driver sign-ups

Total Gross Concessions minus beer sales was $322,100.

The Charleston Mail has the rest of the story.

So, you can no longer burn couches or wear t-shirts with profanity in West Virginia but you can still get drunk. Athletic director Oliver Luck was criticized by some puritans for allowing alcohol sales, but most of us thought the addition of beer concessions at West Virginia games made sense. It’s not like we could tell the difference whether a West Virginia fan is inebriated anyways. Smart move by Luck – he just made some extra cash to help subsidize the Bill Stewart buyout.
